What to buy, where, and how to get it home — then find it again.

Before you go

Packing it all home

Cabin bag

Liquids, gels, creams and toners in the cabin must be in containers of 100 mL or less, together in a transparent bag of about one litre.

Toner pads, cleansing balms and tubes count as liquids or gels. Sheet masks travel in the cabin happily but can leak if crushed.

Checked bag

Anything over 100 mL goes in the checked bag. Wrap glass in clothing, tape pump tops shut and put each bottle in its own zip bag.

Duty-free and connections

Liquids bought after airport security are sealed in a tamper-evident bag with the receipt. Keep it closed until you land; a connecting airport may still confiscate it if the seal is opened.

At home

Your own country sets the customs allowance for cosmetics and for any medicines. Check before a very large haul.
